ENERGY EXPRESS
The Texas Energy Museum offers 100% free tours to school groups, but sometimes this isn’t enough to close the education access gap. The lowest income school districts often do not have field trip funds within their budgets. Subsidized housing complexes, no/low-cost summer programs and youth detention centers usually have $0 funds for travel. This is not uncommon! Lack of access to STEM education resources disproportionately impacts underserved communities. Our mobile STEM program, Energy Express directly addresses this challenge. This program is designed to pack the Texas Energy Museum and take it to school aged groups that cannot physically or financially make a visit the museum.
Energy Express focuses on topics like local oil history, energy sources, robotics and engineering to foster critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration skills and a pride in our community. By making STEM education accessible and engaging, Energy Express helps to empower ALL students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders.
